Cau, Guildford

Having secured myself a new job on the Hants/Surrey border, a few weeks ago H and I moved down in a car crammed with crap. We were lovingly reunited with our stored possessions as we moved into our rented flat, and ever since I’ve been tentatively contacting people I used to know round here to rekindle some neglected friendships.

One pair of friends with whom we were still in regular contact suggested a restaurant trip to a newish Argentinian steak place in Guildford called Cau. Gooseberries!

Hong Kong is home to a plethora of similar bakery shops, and they are the ideal place to pick up a snack or light breakfast.

To stave off cabin fever we took to venturing out more for meals. Sunday lunch started to become a regular fixture, as did Saturday breakfasts or brunches. Lying in bed, we would weigh up laziness versus hunger, until hunger inevitably won. Sometimes this would mean a brief trot for one martyr down the road to Gluttons deli to snag a Chelsea bun, but occasionally we would rise from underneath the duvet and head out for food.
