Facon, Take Two

After my first fake bacon foray, I picked up a new variety at Holland and Barrett – THIS Isn’t Bacon.

I was in a positive mindset on opening. Sure it looked a little odd, but so does meat…

Much like the previous fake bacon, it had a sweetish taste, with perhaps a slightly superior texture. Again, it lacks the decadent greasiness of real bacon though. People bang on about fat equalling flavour, but in the case of bacon, it does seem to ring true.

Chopped up small, fried hard, and added to a salad or a pasta bake, I think this would do well. As a standalone slice – not so much.
